What's Included in my Pet's Exam?
At every exam, we want to gain a comprehensive understanding of your pet’s health and establish baseline bloodwork in order to more easily detect subtle signs of illness in the future.
We’ll tailor each exam to your pet’s unique needs, but most exams will cover the following:
- Nose-to-tail physical exam, checking for abnormalities in the skin, coat, eyes, ears, nose, and listening to the heart and lungs for signs of trouble
- Dental exam to assess oral health
- Fecal exam to check for intestinal parasites
- Deworming, if necessary
- Discussion of parasite prevention
- Vaccinations, if due for boosters
- Age-appropriate bloodwork to detect internal abnormalities
- Heartworm testing (for dogs)
- Disease screenings as needed
- Urinalysis, if indicated
We Go Deeper and Make Time for You
In addition to the care we give your pet during their exam, we also take the time to address any of your questions or concerns. Your education plays an important role in your pet’s overall health, so we don’t take it lightly! We’re meticulous about explaining to you all our findings during your pet’s exam as well as giving you tips for their continued health.

Nutritional & Behavioral Counseling for Cats and Dogs
One of the most important parts of your pet’s lasting health is their diet. The right diet can help your pet maintain their fitness, have more energy, and even manage certain health conditions. With the abundance of cat and dog food choices out there, it can be overwhelming to find the right choice for your pet. That’s why we make nutritional counseling an important part of every pet exam.
Additionally, we'll talk to you about any behavior issues your pet exhibits. Behavior problems are the number one reason pets are surrendered to shelters. Yet with a bit of patience and professional help from our trained team, your pet’s behavioral problems can be curbed. Our behavioral counseling addresses a variety of concerns including inappropriate defecation, aggression, separation anxiety, excessive chewing or barking, and the introduction of new pets into your home. We’ll work closely with you to determine the root cause of the problem and develop an effective plan to alleviate it.
